Re: Some rather revolutionary changes

@OP you should pay close attention to what I say. While very blunt, it tends to be right. Level protection, shield leak and 65% rule are all MAJOR rule changes that were applied to ALL servers. You can and often times do change rules mid game. It makes more sense with some changes and less w...

Re: Some rather revolutionary changes

I don't think the new system would work: [*]It would be nice for "self travel" [*]Scouting would become every players dream [*]You could easily establish your self as a dominant force Err - why, why and why? And what do you mean by "self travel"? And I am also a fan of the curre...

Re: Some rather revolutionary changes

If it can't be introduced to all servers simultaneously (besides Ares, obviously), then it isn't worth talking about. We cannot have the persistent servers running on completely different distance maps. That would be bad, to put it mildly. Why would that be bad? Also, looking at some of the explain...

Re: Some rather revolutionary changes

@ Ferdoc, I'll ignore your pathetic trolling: - You don't change the rules mid-game. That's why radical changes should always introduced in new servers. I have never suggested anything else. - Of course I don't know if a simple change to the rules would be simple for the programmers. I suspect that ...

Re: Some rather revolutionary changes

I don't see how it would mess up trading. Of course it's not a kind of change you would introduce in a running server.

And you can't see more than your eyes can see, so no, you ally doesn't get to see fleets out of your attack/protection range either.

Re: Some rather revolutionary changes

1. Imagine the universe ordered like this: 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 and so on Right now you have a distance of 100 between two galaxies in a row and a distance of 2000 if you switch rows, also called clusters. It's actually a bit more complex b...

Some rather revolutionary changes

After playing AE for some weeks I can see plenty of good sides of the game and quite well balanced game concepts, but I also see one big problem leading to stagnation and boredom: huge guilds and alliances of guilds, strongholds devoid of warfare which is the core of a wargame like this, no fun way ...
