Forum Rules and Guidelines

Astro Empires Staff cannot be responsible for message content. All messages express the views of the author and not the game, its creators or staff. Moderators and Admins may remove, edit, move, split or close topics they feel do not follow the rules without notice.

In addition to the Game Terms of Use, when posting in the forum keep the following in mind:

GENERAL

Inappropriate content
1.1 - Inappropriate content will be removed without notice.
1.2 – Inappropriate content may include but is not limited to. The posting of pornography, nudity or partial nudity, discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially, religious or ethnically offensive; excessive obscene or vulgar language; posts which discuss or illustrate illegal activity; providing links to sites that contain any of the aforementioned or sites advertising / offering material in violation of Astro Empires ToS.
1.3 - Stalking players is not allowed, the posting of "real life" information or images (without permission) of players will be removed and the poster will be subject to a warn and/or ban.
1.4 - Posts with the sole purpose of advertising other games, companies or products are completely forbidden. Such posts shall be immediately removed and the poster banned from the forum.

Be respectful of others at all times
2.1 - The purpose of the forum is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas. Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and courteously.
2.2 – The use of personal insults aimed at another forum user is prohibited.
2.3 - Any member who threatens anyone on the forum, via a post or a private message (PM), will be banned immediately without notice.

Use the correct categories to post and no off-topic
3.1 – Each board has a specified category. Post in the category that best fits your post. If you post in the wrong category it shall be moved and a shadow topic left in its place.
3.2 - Don't go babbling about a completely different subject in an existent thread, make a new one instead.
3.3 - For subjects other than Astro Empires use the "Off Game" forum ONLY.

Flaming, trolling and ranting
4 - Flaming, flame baiting, trolling, and ranting are prohibited.
4.1 - Flaming is expressing anger at someone in an uncouth or highly insulting manner.
4.2 - Flame baiting are posts that are made with the aim of angering someone indirectly.
4.3 – Forum users should not be trolling/harassing others on the forums. Anyone found trolling players from topic to topic, etc., will be subject to a warning.
4.4 - A rant is a post which is long-winded, redundant and filled with angry, non-constructive comments. Ranting in this manner is prohibited

Spamming and bumping topics
5.1 - Spam is considered to be repetitive posting of the same text again and again or nonsensical posts that have no substance and are often designed to annoy other forum users. Posting spam is prohibited.
5.2 – Posts, as mentioned above should have substance, for this reason posts with single smiles will be considered spam.
5.3 – Bumping threads in order to keep them near the top of the list is also prohibited. Posts of this nature are not conducive to community spirit and are unwelcome.
5.4 - No "grave digging". Don't post on obvious old and dead threads. Start a new one if you wish to resume that subject. A thread is generally considered dead after 1 month, this can vary depending on the activity of the board.
5.5 – To avoid spam advertising accounts with less than 5 posts cannot send PM's. Sorry.
5.6 - Do not double post or post more than once in a row.

Profanity
6.1 – The forum has a system in place to mask profanity. For this reason using partial masking (such as asterisks or punctuation marks) to bypass the profanity filter is prohibited. Full masking such as Z***** may be accepted at a moderators discretion.
6.2 – Images which express a filtered word shall be considered a filter bypass and warned.
6.3 - Mild expletives are generally frowned upon and should be limited in use.

Text and images
7.1 - Keep your text clean and readable. Don't use CAPS, bold/italic/underline, different colors or different font sizes other than the default one except in small and relevant portions of your text.
7.2 - Don't post off-topic and/or oversized pictures either. These images will be considered picture spam.
7.3 – Images that express swearing barred by the forum profanity filter shall be removed.

Language
8.1 - All discussions are to be in English which is the official language of this forum.
8.2 – Small portions of another language may be included if accompanied with a translation.
8.3 – Other languages may be used in the ‘Other Language’ boards. Only the language specified in the board’s title is to be used within the board.

Public accusations, In-game rules & exploits
9.1 - If you consider a player is cheating in the game or is harassing you in any way, please do not make a public post about it, contact our game support instead using our Support Center.
9.2 - Exploits should be reported directly to the game staff using our Support Center (select the Bugs Department). You can, however, report game bugs in the appropriate forum.
9.3 - Discussing or advertising tools, extensions or plugins which violate in-game rules is strictly forbidden.

Multiple accounts and impersonation
10.1 – Forum users are only permitted one forum account. Additional accounts shall be banned without notice and the primary account warned or banned as well. If, for whatever reason you need your account name changed use this thread. If you wish to have your forum account deleted contact support by clicking 'support' on the top bar ingame then selecting 'forum'.
10.2 – Creation of a new account for the purpose of by-passing a suspension / ban is prohibited. The second account shall be banned and the primary accounts suspension extended. Further offences could lead to ingame action
10.3 - Impersonating another forum user, moderator, volunteer, administrator, is strictly prohibited. You are expressly forbidden from impersonating anyone else, including those named above or their forum avatars and tags, on the forum or in the game, even in jest.

Avatars and Signatures
11.1 - Avatars and signatures must adhere to the ‘Inappropriate content’ guidelines listed above. Avatars or signatures which do not shall be removed without notice.
11.2 – Quoting or referring to an admin or moderator in your signature is strictly prohibited. Some admin or moderators will give permission to quote them, do not assume this and ask before quoting them in your signature.
11.3 – Signature images may not exceed the following limits,
>>>>* Maximum characters: 260
>>>>* Maximum lines: 3
>>>>* Maximum images: 1
>>>>* Maximum of 1 quote per signature
>>>>* Maximum height: 120 pixels
>>>>* Maximum width: 400 pixels
>>>>* Maximum file size: 20,480 bytes

Moderator judgement and challenging warnings / suspensions
12.1 – Warnings, suspensions and bans are not to be discussed on the forum. Such matters shall remain private between Astro Empires and the user.
12.2 - All members must respect the judgement of admins and moderators. They are the authority in this forum and they will take any necessary action to keep order.
12.3 – If you do not understand or feel you have been warned / suspended unfairly message the moderator who issued the warning. Do so respectfully though, insults will not be tolerated.
12.4 – After messaging the moderator if still feel you have been warned / suspended incorrectly you may take your case to an administrator. To do so please contact the administration through our Support Center (select the Forum Department).

The Report Feature
13.1 – Posts you feel violate the rules as listed should be reported via the report feature on each post. Reporting posts alerts a moderator to the post.
13.2 - The report feature is not be used as a weapon, abuse of the report feature may incur on a warning and/or suspension.
13.3 - Posts that are excessively old should not be reported. Posts any older than 30 days should not be reported.

Board rules
14.1 – Specific boards in Astro Empires can have their own set of rules in addition to these guidelines. These rules must also be adhered too. Violation of these rules holds the same consequences as violation of these guidelines. Please see these rules stickied on each board.
14.2 – Some boards have limited access to new accounts, please find details of these limits on the board specific rules.


IN-GAME

Combat reports and coordinates
18.1 - No posting of game coordinates. This is most important and any posts of this kind will be immediately edited.
18.2 – Attempts to by-pass the coordinates filter is strictly prohibited.
18.3 - Game Battle Report topics and replies with locations will be deleted, no matter how valid the post reason may be. Therefore remove the location coordinates before posting it.

Selling, buying or advertising game accounts
19.1 - Selling or announcing your interest in the sale or purchase of a game account is completely forbidden. Astro Empires does not condone the transaction of game accounts between users and any player doing so will do it on their own risk. Posting about this on the forum won't be allowed.
19.2 – The forum is not to be used to advertise any form of account transfer, even if this does not include a financial benefit to either party.

Real Money for in game services
20.1 - It's forbidden to offer or request real money to other players in exchange for game services.
20.2 – It is forbidden to offer or request account upgrades to other players in exchange for game services.

In-game warnings, fines, suspensions and bans
21.1 – In game warnings, fines, suspensions and bans are not to be discussed on the forum. Such matters shall remain private between Astro Empires and the user.
21.2 – Discussions of specific rules and elements in the Astro Empires terms and conditions are permitted as long as they do not refer to a specific warning, suspension or ban.


VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are regular forum members who help with the game and/or forum in some way (game suggestions and feedback, beta testing, bug reporting, translations, etc). They are not members of the AE staff nor they have any special rights or permissions besides access to the volunteers private forum and our test servers. They do not represent Astro Empires nor they work for us in any way, they are just valuable members of the community who have distinguished themselves for their participation in the game and/or forum.


DISCIPLINE
Warnings can be given for any violation of the guidelines listed in this document. Warnings are active for 30 days. A user with 3 active warnings shall be automatically suspended until one of their warnings expires. Suspensions can be given immediately if the moderator deems the offence serious enough. Continual violation of the rules and extremely serious violations will result in a permanent ban on the user's forum account and may lead to a ban or suspension of the users game account as well.


By becoming a member you agree to adhere to these guidelines. These guidelines are subject to change without prior notification.
