The Mighty Lowers: Dispatches From The Front Lines

Postby poeticmotion » Thu 27 Feb, 2014 11:26

Good evening, and thank you for tuning into this special broadcast live from The Mighty Lowers (we're feeling mightier every day down here, y'all.)

Image

I know you guys are used to grandiose boasts, lulzworthy memes and the occasional Jpeg of an octopus tentacle raping a cruiser (hey, don't judge our preferences... we're all about understanding down here.) And you'll still get those, but I'm about to get serious.

I am so incredibly proud of this guild. I'm saying this publicly, because these guys deserve it. We picked up a lot of randoms, be they complete noobs or simply guys who had never gotten a chance in a non-farm guild before. We're currently outnumbered heavily. A lot of guilds would have folded by now, or gotten demoralized or sloppy, which leads to lower activity and getting crashed. Look at EPA; with almost equal fleet to their invaders, they fell apart almost instantly. Not the Mighty Lowers; we're just getting started fighting. These guys have been making me proud all along, but the last 30 hours have convinced me of how lucky I am to be a member of leadership of such a phenomenal group.

TBT (Royal and China's battleguild) has been, for the last week or so very methodically working down from 09. Very slow, conservative tactics, very thorough in hitting every one of our bases. In turn, we've been making them pay, killing RCs, derbing their inactives (hi, King Baal and Prince Farmsalot, sorry you got kicked by Royal, but don't go inactive in the lowers next time) and generally conducting pro-level asymmetrical warfare.

Image

Our guys have been active, exhibited amazing teamwork and listened to guild orders. I'd estimate we've killed 3x as much of their fleet as they have ours so far. Example of what our players are doing: Last night, they landed in 0X, and I realized we'd left a large inactive fleet on a perimeter JG. I asked for volunteers for a daring ninja op to sneak back in to 0X just as TBT landed, derb it, collect the derbs immediately in one tick, get to another JG 30 minutes away and sneak out before TBT could react from the LZ they were landing on. Keep in mind that when we realized the fleet was there, we had about a ten minute window to launch before it would be too late to get there, collect at the tick, and get to JG for escape. I had eight guys respond in minutes, and we pulled it off. It was like Dunkerque if the Allies had derbed the soldiers left behind instead of rescuing them. And it wouldn't have been possible without the insane activity of this guild.

Image

Now, when TBT landed last night, we noticed something strange. They weren't spreading to farm. Now, they had leveled 07-09, spending 2-3 days in each. In 0X, however, they made a few base hits, but they were all very near the blob. It was the middle of the night in North America, so we decided to hold off texting even though it was obvious they were going to launch right away to come for our blob.

We expected them to launch one galaxy away to go for our inactives (most of which were active rear guard) but TBT surprised us with a bolder move than we'd expected so far, launching two galaxies down to catch our blob at the point we moved to before they landed in 0X. They should have caught a lot of our fleet. We had a very low margin of error and a small amount of time to make a decision. Well played, TBT, for luring us into a pattern and then switching it up. We made our decision, announced it, and got everyone moving. Only one small fleet was left inactive for them to eat. That's damned impressive for the amount of warning we had. I've never seen a guild successfully pull off an evac like that under that type of time pressure with so few losses. I've never been prouder of my guild.

We've had zero suicides. Morale and activity are both high. People are working together to locate and hit targets. People are still treating this as a derb delivery and not whining, even after they get all their bases hit. Over ten percent of our players have been able to build a new base as a result of derbing invading fleet. All this despite the fact that we're outnumbered well over 3:1. I've never seen a guild get invaded by such a far more powerful force and deal with it so well and with such high morale. And then today happened, with a very stressful movement period, and we only left less than a million fleet to be eaten by the China/Royal invaders.

So, thank you, guildmates, for being so awesome. From veterans to noobs to refugees from other guilds, you guys are incredible. And to our GM, Sassy, and my fellow VGMs Det. McBride, Wlerin, Sarah-bunny, and Battle, thank you for inviting me to be a part of the finest guild leadership I've ever seen (and I learned from some damn good GMs.) Whatever happens in the inevitable crash between China/Royal and the Mighty Lowers (win or lose, we're going to derb a lot more of you than you are of us), we aren't going to fold up anytime soon. This guild's too good for that. And I'm proud to be a part of it.

Good post, let me just make a correction.

"All this despite the fact that we're outnumbered well over 3:1"

1 [TBT] To Best The Best 527,143,405 171 3,082,710
2 [AKB48] Versus Girls 3.0 305,474,925 153 1,996,568

Our blob is 360m vs 240m hardly a 3:1 more like 1.5:1 , we have been trying to make it fair since the beginning and a few fleets were sent home just so we didnt have overwhelming numbers, now if nowadays just having better avgs overall is considered a zerg and adds an x2 multiplier to your fleets I dunno what to say.

As active as your blob is my approach would have been totally different, I dont see the point in blobbing if u arent even gonna contest our launches.

Rating your current performance :

10 in conduct very civilized war so far.
9 in activity.
4 in overall strategy , why a 4 here you may say well because you havent even tried to stop us, and with 240m and your activity you could have fought us galaxy per galaxy and make us do perfect launches. Now positioning yourself behind our blob you just changed the tune and made it even easier for us in lowers.

My 2cents

Yeh, it's been 3:2 for most of the invasion, aside from the initial launch which was more like 2:1.

He might be looking at overall guild fleets.

Pffft,

Addex guild will win the lowers.

U peeps are to scared and unwilling to use your spaceboats.

U peeps won't ninja Addex guilds fleets..

So just a war of U running away Poetic nothing more.

Kill some Big fleets of theirs ninja style. Until then U are just waiting to die.

And just taliking trash with U guildmates that don't have enough brains to derb Addex guilds fleet.

Meow Quit, SoT Quit, Royal Quit........Same thing

If U dunno no understand....I dunno know about U

I was going by total guild fleet, since you can easily pull from either guild to make up losses:
1 [TBT] To Best The Best 519,280,535 167 3,109,464 (op guild from Royal / Moe)
2 [AKB48] Versus Girls 3.0 305,956,790 153 1,999,718
4 [Royal] Pan-Asian Family 298,125,060 159 1,875,000
5 [MOE] Memoria of a Fallen Cat 247,350,205 117 2,114,104

Which gives a advantage to y'all of 4:1, but given that some of Royal is chasing FrF and CBA around + your base defense fleets, I rounded off to 3:1.

But, if you just want to use the current blob sizes, I'll stipulate 3:2 if it will make you happy.

Well we tried to make it fair and not bring a super zerg, originally we planned on 300m but due to not knowing who was coming who wasnt we ended up with 450? I think and 217 players (wlerin) counted it. So we sent some away and stuff which is why you see our blob as 360, we could have brought down another 200m easily and just sit in the other side of the cluster while we closed the gap to your blob , after all Im pretty sure u thought Royal would invade lower 00s while MOE uppers.

It would have been like shooting ducks and boring, not like is not boring right now....

I was fairly public in that prediction, but thanks for letting me know you have intel sources. Not that we doubted that.

The full, non-doctored conversation.:

[3:22:41 PM] Joshua: i herd u were accepting bribes for forum promotion
[4:01:49 PM] PoeticMotion: $10 in small, unmarked bills, delivered by armored car by a naked midget in a clown suit
[4:06:44 PM] Joshua: so you want me to deliver it personally, then?
[4:16:59 PM] PoeticMotion: well played.

Also, AKB48 hereby declares war on RAVE.
