I would think HC or Levi shieldrape specs are going to be hard hit by this considering that they don't lose fleet at the same rate as droppers.

The fact they don't have to rebuild is plenty of an advantage, not to mention the XP growth the get based on fleet lost is pretty good.

I know fd4, but they want fleet maintenance to be linked to exp, so the less exp for those fleets means that their maintaining costs go up.

Like separating offense and defense XP or buffing offense XP and nerfing defense XP?

I can see fleet gained XP being more pertinent to this than base defense generated XP. But I still believe XP is the best way to determine fleet maintenance.

The problem with having XP in the equation is that those with big fleets can gain xp easily while those with small fleets cant, so it perpetuates the problem of the fleet gap rather than trying to solve it

Ferdoc, what was the concept for The Mule? Never played it before.

Another problem with the XP is that people can sim and build to their fleet cap as base defenses. If somebody hits them, they get XP to build more and more fleet, until you have impenetrable simmers that have done nothing but gain cap. I agree that XP should be broken up into offensive and defensive. Base your fleet cap off of offensive XP. This to me seems an exciting prospect as someone who just loves to smash boats :D I don't take joy in 20 CCs and prings just to simmer my HC's.

What I want to know is...

How will this effect server starts? With everyone at 0 xp as soon as they build a single fighter will they start losing creds? If so server starts could be slowed quite badly making it more boring for new players.

Lets try to find an option that does not involve XP.

The Xp system is flawed to start with, and if it was fixed having maintence based on that would just make the strong stonger and the weaker.

We need a better idea

Maybe some kind of fuel, so new buildsing to generate it.

No fuel costs for orbiting your own bases.

X fuel cost for orbiting a guild base

2X for traveling

1.5X for ocuing

would also sove the blobing issue

XP only aides the active players as they will "share the wealth" with growing XP for farms.

Perhaps more XP for defeating base defenses... Promote attacking bases.

Because the people with the highest XP are those that have been farmed to ashes after being in the top ranks, or midranked players that have attracted the attention of massively larger players (140+'s on level 60s, say) several times. XP isn't based on whether you've used your fleet, just whether some battle involving your fleet has occurred.

If they're a farm, they're a farm. Just because their capacity is greater to build fleet, doesn't mean they will. In the long run, the more active players accumulate the most XP.
