just a small reminder for those unable to upgrade when your account turns free:

1. build on planets not moons or asteroids
2. get as many bases as possible before the upgrade runs out, sim sim sim boring boring boring
3. basic defences, ( <- wood not vinyl ) basic tech.
4. tech and fleet will increase your level, you dont need that just yet.

And indeed i know of one top player in alpha who has 20 bases close together....of which 8 in one system...

I woudnt recomend at all...its only 1 out of a few thousand players who will survive that way....

While setting up 'stronghold' (typically start 3 galaxies and spread cluster)...has a survival rate of 30% or so..

Asae serverspread has a survival rate of 70%....

Well...in mu case 100%...lol....with 22/24 doing well....

If you take into acount that both servers i am in trouble we have less then 10 members....

Within a guildsize of 50+ players our score is 100%.

Then i demanded vgm powers in exchange for hostages from asae that i have on other servers...

I for 1 do not trust ur demanding ways mr pipe and I for one don't think u need to be vgm if u think u can get it by holding one of our hostage for it.

Funny thing happened a couple days ago. I got a couple of ASAE members knocking at the door asking to join SHLD. They said they were kicked from ASAE for making a couple hits against unguilded profitable players. On your guild logs, you kicked about 7 players and the reason was listed as "Zerg". You then sent both of the guys who ended up joining me, and I'm assuming the rest you kicked as well, a copy of the Guild logs saying ASAE does not tolerate their Zerg ways.

No wonder ASAE doesn't fight. It's actually against their guru-mentality to commit to any hits period!

Then again, they have combat XP. Oh right. All hits against them for profit.

Wake up ASAE members, this is not how you play AE! :

For far too many seconds I was confused. What in the blazes does hitting unguilded players have to do with zerging? Then I remembered. Shouldn't have taken so long, given it is in my sig and all.

There is much more to the story than he attacked somebody. Probably, he put up several posts in guild forum about how ASAE has to change its whole style to zerg style. We boot those guys.

We have mostly changed the name zerg to "stronghold guild," because that more clearly describes the kind of play we mean.
zerg is early aggression, really, but the play style is the same for some in the year+ old guilds when they can find victims.

The hostage taker who thought we should reward enemy behavior by making him VGM must really, really have thought we were very stupid indeed. A VGM can kick anybody, even the GM and totally destroy a guild. We are very careful about who we promote to that level.

AI is an ASAE guild. We used to call our overflow guild "ASAE2" but we got a lot of copycats stealing that name or making fun of us (my favorite was [ASSAE]), so now we call our sister team AI. No more copycats--for now. If our enemies try that again, we will create a new name again. ASAE sister guilds are considered full members of the ASAE family, not "training guilds."

We think it is beyond hilarious that stronghold players have so little imagination or brains that they think their way is "the correct" and even the only way to play AE.

You little zergies are welcome to enjoy the game your way. It is a wonderful way to enjoy AE. We understand you. Our leaders were successful zergs.

I love the ASAE style.
