Thanks, but I guess what I'm wondering is how to tell when its time to add another base. Should it be based on size of economy or something else?

I generally just think about trying for a new base when stuff has started getting expensive on my last base, or when I just have a ton of creds lying around.

Awesome guide :) I built pure econ/a couple ships for occupying and got to 11 bases before I lost initial protection.

Got occu'd right after by some guy with a small fleet though :naughty: had to clear him out.

Yeah, you have to deal with occupations early on but they usually lift right out if you find yourself a nice guild or good friends in your area. In a game like this it's really hard to support yourself against the thousands of players in each server, so it's best that you let your friends help you out a bit before you can stand on your own feet. And with the extra bases, that should be an easy task.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying leech off your buddies, but it's good to ask for some help when you need it.

this is something i made up while i was starting out and after i got outpost ships i jumped up really high had nine planets planets in 5 days this is the economy buffet


phase 1
-nine planets
-10MR/5RF/6sy/5sp on every base
-100 fighters
$-279
$-31per

stop on this at every base

phase 2
-15MR/10RF/12sy/5NF/10sp on every base
-1,000 fighters
$-513
$-57per

stop on this at every base

phase 3
-20MR/15RF/20sy/1obsy/15sp on every base
-5,000 fighters
$-783
$-87per

when building bases first build

5 metal refineries
1 robotics factory
1 spaceport- get trade ASAP
1 shipyard - build fighter ASAP
{the spaceport and shipyard you can build whichever way you want}
-in that order
Then
4 space ports
1 MR
1 RF
1 MR
1 RF
1 MR
1 RF
until its gets to 10MF/5RF
5 more shipyards

then on to phase 2
-15MR/10RF/12sy/5NF/10sp on every base, using the back and forth motion like before, this will increase the speed output greatly and economy as well
*this is only for production bases only or metal refineries +3*

i could have built my 10th base but i feel as if day 6 should be for defenses and i didnt want to strip myself of all my credits just for that

Ok So far I am on the 3rd day, have my 3rd base up, nearly done with the research you set, have 1 energy 2 computer and 2 laser left to research. I might even be able to get a 4th base up before I go to sleep! (which is in 7 hours)

good guide, would have gotten me 10 bases but i had to start building defenses early due to the fact that some idiot warned me that he was going to attack me as soon as the 7 days protection dropped

It's a good guide but about this:

omg man u rock i started off super lucky 3 metal 4 solar and there is TWO open crystalline moons in my region not in like a twenty minute flying range ima use this guide and get so much econ man ty!

And take routes from people who didn't build the fighter.
