Our server, the server, Epsi. We have watched her grow to be one of the largest servers out there with 16.7% more planets more then its 2nd place rival. Until very recently it was also the 2nd largest player base of an older server (1k+ days), second only to alpha. We have seen many empires rise and fall, blob stares, and server wars where the outgunned defender overcame all odds to flip control of the server to a new master. In the same way Alpha is known for its "Open and friendly cooperative environment", Epsi is known as the most ruthless. No rules are respected here, and men like BEE who death-star'ed his whole guild out of existence, die as legends.

Today is a dark day in its history. Today is the day we drop below 1k players.

This marks the beginning of the end of its life cycle. I suspect by end of year we will be down to 850. The server will grow more ruthless and unforgiving as time goes on. I dont know what the threshold number of upgraded accounts is to keep an server profitable, but i suspect the GM's are looking at that metric as a good indicator for closing old severs.

Nice stats. It's unfortunate such an epic server will finally die. At least it's lived much longer than such servers as F-J~. Granted this could be attributed to the fact there was so many more galaxies on Epsi.
