Inactive free accounts.

Postby stalag » Fri 18 Aug, 2017 06:42

What will happen to my bases and fleets if I do not login regularly?

To help maintain the stability of the site, free accounts can be deleted if members don’t login in a period of 15 days.
Upgraded accounts do not have this limitation.
Deleting an account includes deletion of all things related to the account, including player bases, fleets, credits, etc...
However, when an account is deleted the bases can be turned in United Colonies.

If a player does not log in after a period of 4 days, that player stops getting income from bases until he/she logs in again.

How long does a player need to be inactive before this shows up in his profile?

If a player has not logged in for 14 days, the red «Inactive» mark will show up in their profile.

I have noted the above. These are the rules that Wizard laid out. We have so many active free accounts on multiple servers, for those who are active, these inactive accounts are clogging the servers. Is it too much to ask for Wizard to go through the servers weekly and weed out the inactive free accounts and send them to becoming UC?

1) Those aren't rules.

2) "can" is not "will"

If this were implemented in an older server, there would be a number of mostly inactive large accounts that suddenly would go UC. This might be what is needed to shift some servers out of sim mode. But I would love to have clarification as to this rule. The hyper inactives would go by the wayside and open doors of opportunity.

It was further pointed out that the inactive tag gets added by the system at 41 days. Is the FAQ in error or does the game admin Wizard actually intend for the 15 day inactive for turning free accounts UC?

No one would even notice before the UCs had expired.

The FAQ promises that your account will not be deleted for inactivity if you login at least every 15 days. It does not, at all, promise that accounts inactive for longer than that period will be deleted. It is addressed to you, the owner of the account, not you the guy who wants his astro.

Also, upgraded accounts are never deleted for inactivity while the upgrade lasts, but they will be given the Inactive tag.

Chesterton, there are a large number of essentially inactive accounts that languish on the older servers. Would you think that if there was an axe applied on the essentially moribund free accounts it might not spur activity of the remaining players?

To add here, hyper inactive players does affect others when trades are not activated etc. It also affects other guild mates still active. It might also make detection of multi accounts easier because extended login time would not be an option. One always has the option if they want to be hyper inactive to pay for the privilege.

TBH, a sudden cull of inactive players beyond the 15 day login might change server dynamics in a lot of the older servers. It might make them suddenly playable for the rest of the active players.

No, it would likely have the opposite effect when people see the accounts of their longtime friends (or even just trade partners) finally deleted. As for newer accounts, I fail to see how this benefits them except by freeing up astros, which are by no means in short supply on the older servers you are concerned with.

stalag wrote:To add here, hyper inactive players does affect others when trades are not activated etc.

Send a PM before you send trades.

stalag wrote:It might also make detection of multi accounts easier because extended login time would not be an option.

That doesn't make any sense. Inactivity is not a good indicator of multi accounts.

I'm sorry but I don't see how. Also as mentioned in PM, 15 days is way too short for the really old servers. If your queues are full for a month or more why bother logging in in the meantime?

Inactive tag gets added at 40 days, not 41.

Inactive tag gets added at 40 days, not 41.

When the day count reads 40, it's actually the start of the 41st day.
