I'm sorry, I wasn't aware the meaning of rape in this context (as shorthand for shield-rape) was unclear.

There's a reason I used to call myself Irony in game... >_>

I was a dam builder, across the river deep and wide. Where steel and water did collide. I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below. They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound, but I am still around.

Where do you play? I've seen you post on Alpha but as far as I knew, you do not play there anymore(not sure if you ever did)Wlerin wrote:There's a reason I used to call myself Irony in game... >_>

I've played most of the servers since Fenix, but I don't maintain more than one account, and currently don't have one (though there's apparently someone doing a good job of imitating me on Omega). Irony was a Helion & Kappa thing.GruntLife wrote:Where do you play? I *have* played Alpha, first a looong time ago, before Fenix, in a little guild called [Displ], and then for about a day on... well, let's not remind people of that >_> But mostly I just read the Alpha forums because they're the most active on the site.

I played Fenix awhile back. Don't remember much about it other than telling my guild I was going on a training Op for 12 days so I wouldn't be online. I got back and was perma occed by my own guild lol. I quit Fenix and have been on Alpha since.

But there is one thing that always remains and therein lies the best spec. Recyclers.5NWBass wrote:Early game: Corvette, Destroyer

Give me a minute, I'm good. Give me an hour, I'm great. Give me six months, I'm unbeatable.

also i have never ever seen a bomber swarm, i seen an ib swarm a fighter swarm and an HB swarm but no one makes a bomber swarm since bombers are useless
Although the best spec is Outpost ships, I had 50k of them on Ceti before they were destroyed. Unfortunately I Forgot to save the Br of there destruction, however to Counter that Death Smurf and others will back up that claim.
There's a BO swarm on Beta. And believe me, it is pretty devastating against CRs and HC to a lesser extent.
A former guildmate showed me how awesome BS can be, which is what made me switch to them, but in recent times Kahar has shown me the awesome power and potential of DN stacks time and time again.

Re: What's your favorite fleet?
If I understand this correctly -Wlerin wrote: The Real, Real Proportion
Say you have a unit type, called A. The opposing side has five unit types, and the amount of damage unit type A can do to each is called, that is, x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, with xn meaning any of these five. The proportion of power focused on each is:
(x^0.85 / (x1^0.85 + x2^0.85 + x3^0.85 x4^0.85 + x5^0.85) )
Or more generally:
Given n unit types, the damage unit A can do vs. each unit type x is (x1, x2, ... x(n-1), x(n) )
if shields of unit x > power of A, then x1 = power of A * 0.01
else if shield of unit x < power of A, then x1 = power of A - shields of unit 1 * 0.99
And the proportion of A's total power initially focused on each unit type x is:
( x^0.85 / (x1 ^ 0.85 + x2 ^ 0.85 ... x(n-1) ^ 0.85 + x(n) ^ 0.85 )
In our example scenario above, the attacking fighters actually focus 98% (2^0.85/(2^0.85 + 0.02^0.85)) against the defending fighters, and 2% (0.02^0.85/(2^0.85 + 0.02^0.85)) vs. the HC, initially. It doesn't make a difference in this case, but it definitely does in other situations.
There. Hopefully that's now as clear as magma.
Say 50 fighters are attacking 1 HC and 1 BS. Ignoring tech for now -
An ft can deal .02 damage to 1 HC and .02 damage to 1 BS
Using your formula,
x1 = x2 = 0.02.
Proportion of power directed at HC = Proportion of power directed at BS = (0.02^0.85)/(0.02^0.85 + 0.02^0.85) = 1/2
So each ft directs 1/2 of its total power at the HC and BS? Each ft directs 1 power at the HC and BS? That can't be right...

Re: What's your favorite fleet?
That is correct, however the actual damage done is then reduced by shields, so a single ft does 0.01 damage each to the HC and BS.Coruscation wrote:So each ft directs 1/2 of its total power at the HC and BS? Each ft directs 1 power at the HC and BS? That can't be right...

Re: What's your favorite fleet?
Okay. But the actual damage done by a single fighter to the HC in this case -
Is it (0.02^0.85/(2^0.85 + 0.02^0.85))*2*0.01 ?Wlerin wrote: In our example scenario above, the attacking fighters actually focus 98% (2^0.85/(2^0.85 + 0.02^0.85)) against the defending fighters, and 2% (0.02^0.85/(2^0.85 + 0.02^0.85)) vs. the HC, initially. Re: What's your favorite fleet?
Yes.... *if* the fighter's power is 2, and it doesn't exceed the other ship's shielding. That 0.01 was included in most of the earlier calculations, but there at the end the only thing under consideration was the proportion of power focused on a particular unit.Coruscation wrote:Okay.
