Changes in the game

I used to play in Delta and then Epsilon. Now after this many years, I'm thinking about coming back. But I see these New 2.0 3.0 version thing. Is there any big changes in game? Is the game still active and "alive"?

just open an acount on all servers....

on v1 you make more fleet and lesser hits....

on v2 and 3 you research more...and hit more to keep taxes down.
